We’re excited to announce that, in just a few short weeks, over 100k people have downloaded Jetpack. We wanted to both give thanks and share thoughts on future releases.

First, kudos to everyone who downloaded our unique plugin and spread the word. Also double bonus thanks to those who reported issues on the first releases to Jetpack Support – given the many web hosting providers in the world, and the complexity of how authentication works, it’s impossible to cover them all without your help.

If you haven’t yet, please install the latest release (1.1.2), which should appear as an upgrade in your dashboard if you have a previous version. Then please rate Jetpack on the main plugin site, and score us for compatability on the version of WordPress you are using.

The future:  the Jetpack mission is to continually bring features currently only available on WordPress.com to the rest of the WordPress community. Beyond the recent bug fix releases, we’re investigating WordPress.com’s most popular features and how to engineer them to work inside Jetpack. I can’t say more, but it’s fair to say version 1.2 is likely to contain something impressive – something  no ordinary plugin can currently do.

Meanwhile, if you could have your wish, what WordPress.com feature would you want to see in Jetpack 1.2? Leave us a comment.

I would like jetpack 1.2 to allow a better integration with facebook. At the moment I feel that just embedding the facebook code creates a speed lag.

Sorry I am not saavy enough to give more detail.

    Great work. I love Jetpack.

I am not sure if this is where I can make feature request. So if I am way off, please let me know…

    Here is the feature request:
Would love it if posts from our self-hosted WordPress site can be searchable on WordPress.com. That way, we can really be become part of the community. 🙂

    Thanks,
    Sara

How close are you to a new release? It would be nice to get the new Twitter and Google +1 buttons added to Sharedaddy.

Box Counters added to Sharedaddy, and the new Facebook and Twitter comment feature that was just implemented on wp.com would be nice!

😀 First of all thank you guys SO MUCH for make this awesome plugin. I don’t know what I’d do without it. I’m not sure if someone had already suggested it already, but TOP AUTHORS would be super helpful for blogs/websites that have multiple writers to know who’s bringing in the traffic and such. I miss that feature dearly that was on WordPress.com.

A comment system like the one on this site would be awesome, i know there on the free wordpress hosted sites, but us self hosting people get left out time and time again 😦

Would be great to get social connect comment system and also and update to Sharedaddy bringing in a google +1 option , with box counters.. exactly what Derek has requested!! and hundreds of others on other sites!

    Cheers

Biggest request from me would mirror retoxtizz, a comment system that allows Twitter and Facebook login would make Jetpack a must have.

I’d love to see Publicize be made available for “self-hosted” users?

It seems to be the simplest solution out there for pushing blog entries out to FaceBook and Twitter (and I hope ultimately Google+)

Ideally, I’d love to see it been able to post to my FaceBook Page rather than my personal wall, but can cope with the wall only option for the time being.

      Nichola:

Thanks for the request. We’ve talked about making Publicize available as part of Jetpack, but its not as easy as it looks (It takes over 50 hamsters to power publicize for wp.com alone, and the special breed of magic hamsters we use are hard to find).

Publicize support for Facebook pages is a frequently requested feature – noted as well.

    Scott,

I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you can one day breed more of those hamsters. I’ve looked at lots of plugins that offer features similar to Publicize, but none seem as streamlined nor as easy to use.

One day you’ll have to post some pics of those magic hamsters hard at work 🙂
Is this how they relax — http://www.webhamster.com/ 😉

    Nicholas.

I’ve been hunting around for a more effective comment solution and would love to use this one. Any news on when Jetpack might offer this for self-hosted wordpress blogs?
