Jetpack 1.9.1 Released

Jetpack 1.9.1 has been released to address two issues some users were having over the weekend with Jetpack 1.9.

The changes fix:

  • Incompatibilities with some plugins when the Dashboard was configured to load over HTTPS.
  • In the notifications menu, marking a comment as spam made it appear like it was trashed. Comments were getting correctly marked as spam, but the data was incorrectly synced to WordPress.com.

Plus:

  • If you show the toolbar to logged-out users with a plugin like this one,Ā your visitors can access their notifications too!

For a complete list of changes, see the official Jetpack Changelog.

You should see the update available in your WordPress dashboard shortly; alternatively, you can always download the latest version of Jetpack here at jetpack.me as well.

Remember to contact support or post in the support forum if you need help. This quick bug fix is made possible by bug reports submitted by you and other users. Thanks for the help.

Before I updated to 1.9, the emails that notified subscribers of new content on my blog were longer and included the whole post including the images in the post (not just an excerpt). But now, since I updated, the email shows just an excerpt. How can I change this? šŸ™‚

After receiving requests to only send excerpts instead of full blog posts, we updated the subscriptions system to respect the “For each article in a feed, show ___” setting which you can find under Settings > Reading. You can change this to show full posts.

I just updated and my site stopped responding, deactivated Jetpack and now it works, except now I have no Jetpack.

Hi Jef, was your site working before with Jetpack 1.9 and now Jetpack 1.9.1 stopped it from responding?

Can you describe which page you were trying to go to when it stopped responding? Did you get any error messages or did the page just never load.

      Thanks for reporting this.

1.8.2 was working fine for me. I upgraded to 1.9.and started getting an internal server error in response to the WP login form.

I had to reload 1.8.2 to get access to the site.

I upgraded to 1.9.1 and had the same problem as with 1.9.

Right now, I’m back to 1.8.2.

Any help you can provide will be appreciated.

    Thanks!!

      Hi alamobill,

Sorry for the troubles, can you send me what the internal server error said with 1.9.1?

Also, if you are retrying, could you try deactivating the new modules (Notifications, JSON API, Mobile Push) to see if it is associated with a particular module? That would greatly help us track this down.

      Thanks for the help!

        Hi Greg,

Thanks for the reply. I got my site (historeo.com) going with 1.9.1 by deleting three conflicting plugins.

See the following links for screenshots of the plugin info:

These are fairly old plugins and are not that useful. Your plugin is much more valuable. Kudos for that!

After having deleted the offending plugins, I can’t reproduce the details of the error. If it occurs again I will provide you with the details.

        Thanks for your help/concern!!

        Regards,

        billb

Great to hear, and thanks for the details. We’ll look into whether there are any generic problems we should fix.

        Cheers

I’m with these guys. 2 of my sites did not work with 1.9. One works with 1.9.1. The other does not work with 1.9 or 1.9.1 =/

Hi, the last two times (most recently today with 1.9.1) when I tried to update the Jetpack plugin on Twenty Eleven the update fails. It deactivates Jetpack but fails to install the new version. The Jetpack folder remains on my hosting but is now empty so I couldn’t re-install the old Jetpack version. I had to delete the folder through FTP and then install the new version which then worked. Is this going to keep happening every time I update the plugin? Thanks, Denis

      Hi Denis,

Sorry for the troubles. We’re clearly still having some plugin compatibility problems. If you can provide me with a list of the plugins you have installed (and activated) I can try and replicate your problem.

      Thanks for the help
