Earlier today, we released Jetpack 2.0.1. Within a few hours, we received a few reports of a fatal error in the  release. We tracked the error down to an erroneous short PHP open tag, which some users’ servers don’t support. Jetpack 2.0.2, which is available now, corrects this error, but otherwise contains no changes from today’s earlier release.

I was able to download the plugin and I know that other people are able to as well, so in your case it’s possible the problem is a connectivity issue or some web server configuration that is blocking—or your server is just having trouble unpacking the plugin files for some reason. You can work around the problem by deleting the “jetpack” folder from /wp-content/plugins/ and downloading it again through Plugins → Add New or, if that doesn’t work, download Jetpack and install it manually using your web host’s file manager.

Sheri thank you SO much for the tip. Not only did that work for Jetpack 2.0.2 but I had a couple of other plugins that were hung up for the same type of reason. Thank you so much!

On this Thanksgiving Eve, I just wanted to say thank you for all the work you do in developing these tools for us to use especially when there are people like myself who are not yet in a position to donate to your cause. So, I would like to take a moment to say thanks; I appreciate your hard work. I can’t imagine all the “aspects” you have to think of when writing code. I’m overwhelmed by all that I have to think of on my sites but writing code is a totally different story I know.

So, I hope you have a great Thanksgiving and thank you for all you do.

Just a quick heads-up: If you used one of the available snippets to enable “Infinite-Scroll” in a child-theme of twenty-Twelve, twenty-Eleven or twenty-Ten, the new update will break your wordpress and result in server errors (or white pages).

Removing these snippets from the function.php of the child-theme makes everything work again.
