Welcome to another release of Jetpack. The big new thing in Jetpack 6.0 is:
Enhanced privacy controls and GDPR compliance
Jetpack customers have always been protected by Automattic’s privacy policy, but we’ve gone further to give you even more control over your data. As of Jetpack 6.0 we have created a dedicated settings page where you can access all privacy-related documents as well as an option to opt out of activity tracking if you wish to do so.
These are the first changes we’ve made to help Jetpack fully comply with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which takes effect May 25th, 2018. Keep an eye open for more updates coming soon.
New social media icons widget
The updated social media icons widget brings many more social network options and a newer interface, which makes adding new links a breeze.

With every release we try to improve the feature set, speed, and efficiency of Jetpack. 6.0 is no exception with over 30 enhancements and bug fixes. Among them are:
- We’ve improved the accessibility, performance, and efficiency of the dashboard.
- We have enhanced our brute force attack prevention logic to block attacks more efficiently.
- We’ve refined and enhanced our improved search feature. After a short beta testing period we have fully launched search to all customers on our Professional plan, give it a try.
- Jetpack and WooCommerce are working together better than ever—we have added support for improved tracking of add-to-cart events in Jetpack’s stats.
- We have removed Holiday Snow from Jetpack and WordPress.com. Its removal will help us make Jetpack a more focused and robust product for small businesses. If you miss having snow fall across your site there are stand-alone plugins available.
- And many other smaller (and probably boring) stability improvements.

This update is clashing with Page Builder by SiteOrigin. Following the update, attempting to add a new page or post displays a full-page “Follow Us” editor, losing everything else including the WordPress sidebar and topbar.

Thanks for the report. We worked on this with the SiteOrigin team yesterday and they released a new update for their plugin that should solve the issue. Once you update you should be all set!

I had to turn off Jetpack after the update. It was causing my site to run really slow. Featured images were not showing up and comments were disappearing. After I deactivated the plugin, all those problems went away. My website is https://lebeauleblog.com/ I would like to reactivate Jetpack if you can tell me how to do so without the problems coming back.

OK, I can’t find a real changelog for 6.0. I can’t find a dedicated GPDR page.
Further, I can’t find real GPDR changes. But we need a lot of them, like:
– Brute Force security: no online IP transfer to check a blacklist
– Social Sharing: 2 click sharing, so buttons won’t load anything before activation
– EU Cookie law: as you mentioned GPDR, following ePrivacy next year, an implened EU Cookie information would be nice
– Similar posts: when activated with pictures, you store the pictures at ioX.wp.com which is not good for privacy reasons
– Jetpack comments: It loads JS from jetpack.wordpress.com which is very bad and maybe transfers data
– Comments: loading Gravatars is very bad, maybe mark it as not good regarding GPDR
– Emojis: Even loading Emojis from online sources is bad now
– Maybe offer a setting for storing offline Google Web Fonts
These are the requirements I’m looking forward to. I can’t find anything right now and waited for this update.
Maybe you can offer me a real changelog as I only can see 5.9 changelogs.
For me Jetpack will be unusable in this version after 25.5.2018.
Maybe WordPress core gets some updates. Embedding like it works now is bad. Either we need a 2 click embedding so people have to activate embedded things or we need something like YouTube-No Cookies. Regarding EU-ePrivacy next year, things will get more complicated regarding cookies. So don’t rush it now as you maybe will rewrite it next year.

You can view the most recent changelogs of all plugins on your site, including Jetpack, by going to the Plugins menu in your dashboard and clicking on “View Details” next to the plugin. A modal will appear with more information about the plugin, and you can then click on “Changelog” to find out more.
You can also view the changelogs in the plugin directory on WordPress.org. Here is Jetpack’s.
We are still working on getting ready for the GDPR, so there are still things that we need to implement. You can expect more information about the GDPR in Jetpack in the next release, and we’ll also post about it on this blog! We do expect to be in compliance with the GDPR requirements by May 2018 when the GDPR goes into effect.
