Pricing and Plan Changes
Jetpack Search had only been available as a part of the Jetpack Professional plan at $29 per month, but that pricing felt unfair: a site with one million posts costs 1,000 times as much to index as a site with one thousand posts, but both sites were paying the same amount.
New pricing makes Jetpack Search more affordable for small sites and still costs big sites less than the competition. It’s also available as a single product, so there’s no need to pay for other features you may not need just to use Jetpack Search.
Pricing for Jetpack Search depends on how many records your site has — posts, pages, products, and custom post types.
- Up to 100 records: $5 per month
- Up to 1,000 records: $10 per month
- Up to 10,000 records: $25 per month
- Up to 100,000 records: $60 per month
- Up to 1 million records: $200 per month
- Over 1 million records: $200 per month per million records (yes, we have sites with more than a million posts!)
Even better, when you sign up for an annual plan, you get two months free every year. When your plan auto-renews, the pricing will automatically adjust based on the number of records in your search index.

Thank you for the updated pricing! As someone who uses Jetpack Premium on all my sites the search was the only option I felt wasn’t within my range. (I don’t even have 10 posts currently on my new sites, so 😀)

This feature improves the search experiment for your visitors.
Basically, when visitors type keywords in search fields, all search queries will be routed to our cloud servers and there will be no load on your site.

Hello, is this new pricing on top of Jetpack’s plans? I was going to subscribe to “Professional” which included Jetpack search for a flat-fee. Also, is there no middle ground between10k and 100k records? And can some records be excluded (I’m want to only enable search for WooCommerce products). Thank you.

That’s correct: Jetpack Search is a standalone offering separate from Jetpack’s Personal, Premium, and Professional plans.
Excluding records from Search is not currently possible, and there is no tier between 10k and 100k records, although this is great feedback.

A couple more questions, if you do not mind. Is there an ETA on when images can be part of search results? The overlay UI is okay for content sites but for e-commerce stores, this is not optimal. Can you imagine someone searching for t-shirts and clicking on a search result without seeing an image? Ideally, there would be an option to return results in columns, too. I understand if your focus is content sites but I’m pretty sure this won’t work for many (if not most) e-commerce stores.

You mention “products” in one of your screenshots, but there is no clear information about support for WooCommmerce.
Does the new Jetpack search work with WooCommerce? Can I use product attributes as facets?

Custom taxonomies can be used as facets, but nothing that is currently in post meta can. We do have product attributes in the index, but haven’t built out displaying and interacting with them yet. Stay tuned.

Thanks for the response. I would like to compare this new Jetpack Search to the Elasticsearch search that comes bundled with Jetpack Professional as I am trying to decide between the two. Do you have any links to resources that give this comparison or can you lay out the difference in features please?

The Jetpack Pro version isn’t going away anytime soon because many folks are still using it, but we think the new version provides a much better search experience. We wrote a technical discussion of why we significantly changed the search. It is really better in most every way and we are already working on further improvements.

Can you please clarify one thing for me? Is Elasticsearch search still available with Jetpack Professional? If I get Jetpack Professional today, can I enable Elasticsearch as it was before this new release? I would certainly choose the new version if it was supporting an e-commerce view but for now, your old search is the only option for me. Thank you.

Yes, Jetpack Pro will still work as before. We aren’t showing it in our marketing materials anymore, but it is there, works, and is not changing.

Hi again, Greg. I have a query about a multilingual site. I will have content in multiple languages, most likely in language-specific subdirectories, e.g. website.com/en for English and website.com/es for Spanish. Will I be able to set up this search for the different subdirectories? I.e. when some accesses website.com/es, it will only search the content in that subdirectory and not the content on website.com/en.
