Jetpack 8.9: New ways to grow subscribers and collect donations

This month, start engaging your site visitors with two exciting new tools! The Newsletter Sign-up form and Donations Block will help you grow your subscriber and supporter base.

Jetpack 8.9 is also proud to support v2.0 of the official AMP plugin for WordPress.

Convert visitors into subscribers with Newsletter Sign-up

You can now create a Newsletter Sign-up form as part of the Form Block. Grow your email list and start sending site updates, newsletters, and marketing campaigns.

The Newsletter Sign-up form is fully integrated with Creative Mail by Constant Contact, so you can install and enable it while you’re creating the form. Creative Mail gives you the ability to pull your WordPress posts and WooCommerce products easily into new emails. Now, you can create stunning email campaigns and continue the conversation with your visitors after they’ve left your site, with reliable deliverability from the team at Constant Contact.

Collect donations, right on your site

The new Donations Block allows you to easily accept donations, tips, and contributions on your site to fund your creative pursuits, non-profit mandate, or other goals. If you’re on a paid Jetpack plan, you can quickly integrate your Stripe account to accept credit and debit card payments.

Share your social media content with confidence

Followers on social networks engage with content that’s engaging. With Social Previews, you can now preview how your posts will appear on Facebook, Twitter, and Google search results to ensure your content looks great — before you hit the publish button!

Toggle the Jetpack sidebar from within the WordPress Editor (look for the Jetpack icon in the top right corner) and look for the “Social Previews” panel.

Facebook, Twitter, and Google Search previews are available now, and LinkedIn is on the way.

Are these blocks also available as widgets? If/when we’re forced to use blocks, I’m out. 🙂

Those blocks are not available as widgets, no. The only way to use those features is to use the block editor.

You’re not forced to use the block editor, though; that is up to you!

I’d also love to see more attention paid to Jetpack subscription, like MailChimp and ConstantContact get. I’d take a just a few simple settings, like excerpt vs full post and a pop-up like MailChimp. Pretty please? 🙂

There are different ways to display a Subscription form on your site: via a widget, a shortcode, or a block. While Jetpack itself does not offer an option to display the form in a pop-up, there are different plugins you can use to insert widgets, shortcodes, or blocks inside a pop-up.

This plugin, for example, allows you to add a Pop-up block to a post, and you can then add a Subscription block inside that pop-up.

If you’d like to control the content of what’s sent to your email subscribers (excerpt or full post), you can follow the instructions here.
