Social Media Scheduling is Here

Once you’ve created your latest piece of content, you naturally want to let the world know about it. But up until now, sharing your content on social media was a manual process, and one that ate up a lot of time you could have spent doing other things.

We wanted to make it easier for Jetpack users to share the great content they’ve been creating. That’s why we’re excited to add social media scheduling to Publicize, exclusively for our Premium and Professional plan customers.

With this new feature, you can choose specific times to share your content on your favorite social media networks, like Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. You can schedule one or many shares in advance, and Jetpack will take care of the rest, publishing your custom messages at the times you specify.

Up until now, Jetpack’s Publicize feature would allow you to share content manually. But now you can:

  • Plan all your social shares in advance to save valuable time.
  • Re-share previously published posts so newer followers get exposure to them.
  • Preview each share before it’s scheduled to be sure you’re happy with the content.
  • View all previous shares of your content.

If you’re already a Jetpack Premium or Professional plan customer, you can try this new feature now. Look for the Share button under any single Post:

share-tab-open

When you click Share, you can either share a post immediately or use the calendar tool to choose a time in the future that your content will be posted, tweeted, or shared on the network of your choice.

The social media accounts that you have connected to Jetpack will be displayed on the right side. You can choose which accounts to share to by clicking the toggles on and off (or, if you need to add a new account, clicking the icon in the top right).

share-calendar-open

To make sure you get the best results, click the Preview button to view what your content will look like when it’s shared. If you don’t like what you see, just keep on customizing until you’re happy with the results.

We hope you enjoy this new addition to Publicize — give it a try and let us know what feedback you have in the comments!

Publicize Scheduling is available to Jetpack Premium and Professional plan customers. Upgrade now to give it a try.

Jetpack 5.1: Comment Likes and Enhancements

Jetpack 5.1 brings you Comment Likes and a few additional enhancements and bug fixes that further improve compatibility and user experience.

Comment Likes

Visitors signed in to their WordPress.com accounts can now engage with your blog posts not just by leaving comments and liking the page, but also by liking each other’s comments.

comment-liked-by-me

Compatibility

Jetpack is now more compatible with older versions of WordPress and WooCommerce. Images uploaded to your site with WordPress versions older than 2.7 are now automatically compatible with Photon and we now sync data from older WooCommerce versions as well.

We’ve also updated instructions in the Flickr widget to reflect recent changes to the Flickr UI and the widget will automatically display images in a grid layout if there’s enough room.

Connection Improvements

Jetpack now handles certain edge cases with VaultPress registration or connection errors more gracefully and synchronizes the “blog_public” option from the WordPress.com API to correctly reflect public/private blog settings.

Jetpack 5.0: Spring Clean

In one last big Spring clean before Summer officially comes around (omg where has the year gone!) Jetpack 5.0 brings several bug fixes, small enhancements, and polish to your WordPress sites.

Cleaner code, faster execution

We’ve shipped several small improvements to how we handle WordPress.com API requests as well as how we sync data back to our servers making the processes more secure and robust. We’ve also removed deprecated methods and refactored some of our front end code resulting in cleaner code and faster execution.

Stability and compatibility

We’ve included lots of fixes from simple alignment issues on the front-end, to gracefully avoiding unnecessary warnings, to better compatibility with Facebook’s CDN and third-party plugins. We also fixed yet another PHP 7.1 compatibility issue with Social links that was causing fatals.

WordPress 4.8 compatibility

The release of WordPress 4.8 is right around the corner, and we’ve made sure that this version of Jetpack is fully compatible. One new feature coming in WordPress 4.8 is a brand new Media Widget similar to Jetpack’s. This version of Jetpack will automatically update your Jetpack Image Widgets to use core’s version, as we will be deprecating ours.

A more stable connection

We’ve tightened up our connection process to WordPress.com. Now, connecting your Jetpack site is much more stable.

#SmallBusinessWeek Day 5: Spotlight on Expert Help and Support

In the last installment of our #SmallBusinessWeek round-up, today we focus on the service that underpins every other service we provide.

“Turn it off… and on again.”

This is a phrase you’ve probably heard often from your cable company or internet service provider. Or variations on the theme from your host or developer such as “uninstall it and install it again.”

Our support approach is the opposite of that.

Every support request we receive gets personalized attention and a relevant response. (We may, sometimes, ask you to “turn it off and on again” but you’re guaranteed that that’s because we genuinely think it will help resolve your issue.)

The customer support that I’ve received from Jetpack has exceeded all of my expectations. The folks at customer support have replied to my questions extremely fast. They also work quickly to identify and provide a solution to the problem. I can only hope that when my website grows up that I will be able to offer the superior customer service provided to me from Jetpack. Thank you again! Dave at DQ’s WebSolutions.

Comment by Dave.

Jetpack’s high ratings, of which over 65% are 5-star ratings, are primarily due to the excellent support we provide. We are able to do this because, although we care about things like ticket volume and response times, the main thing we care about is customer satisfaction — which averages at a steady rate of 85% full satisfaction — which is why our support staff call themselves Happiness Engineers.

This is rarely achieved by simply asking users to turn it off (and on again) by default. It is achieved by having an amazing support staff who practice user empathy, are experts in their field, and have a direct line to our development teams.

Can you get cheaper security services? Sure. But as you know, cheaper isn’t always better and having an expert in your corner when the chips are down is the clever option.

  2. A direct hot line.
While we provide support to everyone, customers on a paid plan — starting at just $39 per year — get priority.
  3. Your suggestions are listened to.
At Jetpack, Happiness Engineers are our primary “voice of the customer”. We take serious note of bugs, requests, and issues that you report and do our best to address them in future Jetpack releases.
  4. Global coverage.
