Today we released Jetpack 3.5 which includes the ability to manage your site’s menus directly from WordPress.com as well as several bug fixes and enhancements.
Menu Management
With this version of Jetpack connected, you can manage your site’s menus directly from wordpress.com/sites. This adds to our growing list of centralized site management features such as automatic and bulk plugin updates.
How to Update
Visit the Plugins page in your Dashboard and update Jetpack from there. Alternatively, update all your sites in bulk from wordpress.com/plugins/jetpack.
How to Install
You can install Jetpack by visiting our install page or by searching for it in your Plugins page on your dashboard.

I hope this doesn’t mean that the classic dashboard on self-hosted sites is going to be replaced with this new “blue” admin dashboard. I loathe the blue “new” editor, stats, and all the reset of the dashboard changes happening at WP.com.

You can rest assured, the classic dashboard is not going anywhere. Managing your Jetpack sites from WordPress.com is just one additional option. Feel free to give it a try, or ignore it and keep using your site’s dashboard; that’s up to you!

I don’t see upcoming events widget when i update jetpack. It’s also not on your page: http://jetpack.me/support/extra-sidebar-widgets/

The widget is not ready to be released just yet, but we’ll mention it here and add it to the support documentation as soon as it becomes available in Jetpack!

Does this have the XSS vulnerability and does this effect our sites here or is it just stand alone?

The XSS vulnerability was fixed in our previous update, Jetpack 3.4.3. You can read more about it here.
The new Menu management option only adds a new screen to WordPress.com, from where you can manage navigation menus on your self-hosted WordPress site. It doesn’t change anything on the Menus screen in your self-hosted site’s dashboard.

I don’t have a self-hosted site anymore. 4.2 destroyed it when it updated to that. I went to Concrete5. Very happy right now. I’m more concerned if it had any effect on wordpress.com since I left my blog here. I won’t be using the stand-alone again. Spending an entire weekend rebuilding and learning a new platform is NOT my idea of fun. Thank God Concrete was much easier than WP

The XSS vulnerability is also patched on WordPress.com. As per the new menus management screen, it’s also available for WordPress.com sites, and like for self-hosted sites using Jetpack, you can choose whether you want to use the new menu management screen, or keep using the old system. That’s up to you!

Oh and I didn’t use Jetpack anyway when I had a WP site. It wasn’t useful and it was cluttered.

This was truly rude. You just took over my menus. How do I turn this off? Why can’t I find a simple and obvious switch? Over 2 hours wasted trying to find out what the heck was wrong with my site.

We haven’t touched the previous Menus screen, it should still be available under Appearance > Menus in your dashboard. Jetpack offers one more place to manage your menus, but doesn’t change anything with the existing Menus screen.

That seems like an issue indeed. Jetpack didn’t add any code to the existing Menus screen, but another plugin might be at play here.
