Jetpack 6.6 is now available for download. This release brings you two features that will make your website more attractive to readers and search engines alike (and a slew of the usual bug fixes and small enhancements).
Better Site Verification Tools
We’ve significantly improved the process of verifying a site with Google. It’s now simpler than ever to add your site to Google Search Console right from the Jetpack dashboard. That’s not all: once you’ve added your site, you’ll also receive tips and notifications from Google to boost your site’s visibility on search engines.
Beta-test our new Asset CDN
This release also includes a new beta feature that reduces the time it takes content to load for your visitors. Take it for a spin — just head to the full module list page on your test site, and activate the Asset CDN feature. Everything should work as usual, only faster 🙂
Our asset CDN is a site acceleration service. That means that we host static assets like JavaScript and CSS shipped with WordPress Core and Jetpack from our Content Delivery Network, thus alleviating the load on your server.
This feature is still in beta, and we’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback if you give it a try.

Hi, I’ve just updated Jetpack and the social icons widget has gone nuts! Every icon is now huge enough that my 80-year-old almost-blind dad can see them from across the room. I’ve had to remove the widget. What gives?!

Sorry about that! We’ve introduced this bug by mistake. We’ll release Jetpack 6.6.1 to address this soon. Until then, you can go to Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS and add the CSS listed here to solve the issue:

I see as first thing that the social icons have no more the correct case tags or class. The second thing, on buddypress, the images are no more loaded. These are the main problems I experience now.

Sorry about that, we’ve indeed messed things up with that widget in this release. We’ll release a new version of Jetpack to solve this issue soon. Until then, you can add the following CSS to your site (under Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS) to solve the issue:

Do you think that the fixing will come in just a few hours?

We will most likely release an update tomorrow, so you will unfortunately have to wait a bit longer. Until then, that additional CSS should help!

Hello I am getting this error when updating to jetpack 6.6
Error updating Jetpack by WordPress.com on HSSSZN 讚新聞. The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.

This can indeed happen if file permissions are not correctly set on your site, or if you have run out of free space on your hosting plan. I would suggest that you check this post to find how to solve this issue. You can also contact your hosting provider to get some help with this.
