I just have to ask: why are the captions an OVERLAY that obscures the bottom part of the image in the “block” versions of slideshows and galleries? I’m a photographer and find that absolutely unacceptable. Captions belong UNDER the image. Can that be fixed with custom CSS?

Thanks for the feedback. That’s a good question. We followed the example of the Core WordPress galleries, but I can see how this could be detrimental when displaying some images. You could certainly customize the display of the captions with CSS, but I think it may be worth starting a broader discussion about the display of captions in Jetpack and in Core galleries. I started that discussion here. You can join us there!

When ever i go to set up jetpack after the 9.3 update on my wordpress it sends me to a “This site can’t provide a secure connection” page I’ve run a diagnostic multiple times and have tried all the trouble shoots and debugs i can find but have gotten nowhere.

Could you contact us to give us more details about your site and about the error? We’ll be happy to look into this with you.

I just now wanted to set up Jetpack Personal for a site, and discovered this no longer exists. The nearest equivalent appears to be ‘Backup daily’, which costs something like 96 USD per year. Unless I’m missing something, this is a shocking increase from the cost of Jetpack Personal, which was something like 37 USD per year.
What’s going on?

We did indeed make some changes to the different plans available for the Jetpack plugin a few months back. You now have more flexibility to choose the exact products your site needs, but it does indeed mean that the prices are now different.
If the current prices are too steep, now may be a good time to purchase a plan as we currently offer a 40% discount on all plans for the New Year. You can apply the
NEWPACK
coupon at checkout to take advantage of this discount. While the discount does not cover the price increase of the plan you’re interested in, it may be of help.LikeLike
Thanks. Though that doesn’t quite address the very steep price increase.
