Jetpack 5.1: Comment Likes and Enhancements

Jetpack 5.1 brings you Comment Likes and a few additional enhancements and bug fixes that further improve compatibility and user experience.

Comment Likes

Visitors signed in to their WordPress.com accounts can now engage with your blog posts not just by leaving comments and liking the page, but also by liking each other’s comments.

Compatibility

Jetpack is now more compatible with older versions of WordPress and WooCommerce. Images uploaded to your site with WordPress versions older than 2.7 are now automatically compatible with Photon and we now sync data from older WooCommerce versions as well.

We’ve also updated instructions in the Flickr widget to reflect recent changes to the Flickr UI and the widget will automatically display images in a grid layout if there’s enough room.

Connection Improvements

Jetpack now handles certain edge cases with VaultPress registration or connection errors more gracefully and synchronizes the “blog_public” option from the WordPress.com API to correctly reflect public/private blog settings.
