View your podcast stats
View and understand the stats for your podcast, including download counts, top episodes, listener apps, and listener locations.
This feature requires a paid subscription, such as Jetpack Growth or Jetpack Complete.
Accessing your podcast stats
The stats dashboard shows an overview of how your podcast is performing, with breakdowns by episode, app, and country. You can filter by time period to see how your audience has changed over a specific date range.
Podcast stats are available once you have published at least one episode. Submit your podcast to directories so listeners can find it in their podcast app.
To view your podcast stats, go to Jetpack → Podcast and click the Stats tab. The page is organized into five sections:
- A Downloads chart at the top.
- Four summary cards: Total downloads, Top app, Top country, and Top day.
- A Top episodes list.
- A By app breakdown.
- A By country breakdown.
Podcast stats are currently available through the web dashboard only and are not yet shown in the Jetpack mobile apps. You can access them from a mobile browser by visiting your site’s dashboard and navigating to Jetpack → Podcast → Stats.
Downloads
The downloads section shows the total number of times your podcast episodes have been downloaded or streamed. A download is recorded each time a listener’s app or browser requests the audio file, including streaming plays, automatic downloads in podcast apps, and direct file access.
You can view download totals for your entire show or for individual episodes by adjusting the time period at the top of the stats page.
A spike on a single day usually means one of three things: an episode was featured on another show, a social post drove traffic, or a podcast directory crawler indexed your feed. Compare the spike to your publish schedule and any promotion you ran that day.
Summary Cards
The four summary cards below the Downloads chart give you a quick read on the period:
- Total downloads is every download across your show, for the selected period.
- Top app is the podcast app that served the most listens, with the share of total downloads.
- Top country is the country that listened the most, with the share of total downloads.
- Top day is the date with the highest download count, with the count for that day.
The cards refresh whenever you change the Period dropdown.
Top Episodes
The top episodes section ranks your episodes by download count for the selected time period. This helps you identify which topics and formats resonate most with your audience.
You can also view per-episode stats from the Episodes tab by clicking the play count next to any episode.
Listener apps
The listener apps section shows which podcast apps your audience uses to listen. For example, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Pocket Casts, or a web browser. This breakdown can help you decide where to focus your distribution and promotion effort
Listener locations
The locations section shows which countries your listeners are in. You can use this to see how your show is spreading, and to decide whether it is worth promoting in specific regions or adding translated show notes.
Viewing per-episode stats
To see detailed stats for a single episode:
- Go to Jetpack → Podcast and click the Episodes tab.
- Find the episode you want to review.
- Click the play count number in that episode’s row.
The per-episode view shows downloads over time for that specific episode.
Why Spotify listeners are not in this report
Podcast stats count downloads served from your podcast feed. Spotify hosts its own copy of your audio after you submit your show, so plays inside the Spotify app are counted by Spotify, not by your feed. To see your Spotify listener stats, log in to Spotify for Creators.
Apple Podcasts and most other podcast apps stream the audio file directly from your feed each time a listener plays an episode, so those plays appear in your podcast stats.
