Jetpack Beta Tester makes it easy to switch between pre-release versions of Jetpack. Beta software can be unstable, so install it only on a local, staging, or other test site—not on a production site or anywhere you keep important data.

Before you begin

  • Install and activate the latest stable version of Jetpack.
  • Use a site you can safely restore if a pre-release build causes problems.
  • Back up anything you can’t afford to lose before testing.

Install from your dashboard

  1. Download the ZIP file above without extracting it.
  2. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add Plugin → Upload Plugin.
  3. Choose the ZIP file, install it, and activate Jetpack Beta Tester.
  4. Open Jetpack → Beta and select the release or feature you want to test.

Report a beta issue

If you find a problem in a Jetpack beta, please report it through our official GitHub form. A useful report includes:

  • The exact steps needed to reproduce the problem.
  • What you expected to happen and what happened instead.
  • The URL of the affected page and relevant details about your test environment.
  • Your WordPress, Jetpack, and Jetpack Beta Tester versions.
  • Screenshots, browser console messages, or logs when they help explain the issue.
