Which WordPress MCP connector should you use?

It depends on the job. The big questions are which AI app you use, where your site is hosted, and whether your AI needs to touch code. Here’s who each one suits best.

  • Jetpack

For looking after your site from ChatGPT or Claude, wherever it’s hosted

  • WPVibe

For building with page builders, theme files and WP-CLI

WPVibe reaches theme files, WP-CLI, and Elementor, Divi and Bricks layouts. It’s free for 100 tool calls a day, then from $99 a year, and every request goes through WPVibe’s servers.

  • Easy MCP AI

For a free server inside your own site

Easy MCP AI is a free plugin with more than 280 tools, WooCommerce orders included. ChatGPT and Claude connect straight to your site, with no account to make and no daily cap.

  • WordPress MCP Adapter

For developers building on WordPress itself

The WordPress MCP Adapter is the WordPress project’s own adapter. It turns abilities from WordPress and your plugins into tools. Its docs say the ChatGPT and Claude web apps can’t connect to it on its own yet.

What is a WordPress MCP server?

A WordPress MCP server gives AI apps like ChatGPT and Claude a set of tools for your site, using MCP (Model Context Protocol). With it, your AI app can read your posts, write a draft or update a plugin when you ask. You may also see it called an MCP connector or plugin: ChatGPT lists them as apps, and Claude calls them connectors. Some run inside your site as a plugin. Others run on their maker’s servers, like the WordPress.com MCP server that Jetpack uses.

Which WordPress MCP server is best?

It depends on the job. Use Jetpack to look after your site from ChatGPT or Claude, wherever it’s hosted. Besides your posts and plugins, it can read your form messages and stats (free for personal sites) and turn on downtime alerts, and one connection covers every site on your WordPress.com account. Using an AI agent on your Jetpack site is free until November 30, 2026. Use WPVibe for page builders, theme files and WP-CLI. It’s free for 100 tool calls a day, then from $99 a year, and every request goes through WPVibe’s servers. Use Easy MCP AI for a free server inside your own site, with more than 280 tools and no daily cap. Use the WordPress MCP Adapter if you build on WordPress itself.

Which WordPress MCP connectors work in ChatGPT and Claude on the web?

Jetpack, WPVibe, Easy MCP AI, AI Engine, Royal MCP and miniOrange’s Secure MCP Server all work in the ChatGPT and Claude web apps. The WordPress MCP Adapter doesn’t yet, because those web apps sign in with OAuth and the Adapter has no OAuth server. Jetpack (as the WordPress plugin), WPVibe, AI Engine and miniOrange’s Secure MCP Server are in ChatGPT’s plugin directory, so you add them with a click. Easy MCP AI and Royal MCP connect as a custom connector. Jetpack and AI Engine are in Claude’s directory too.

Is there a Claude plugin for WordPress?

Claude calls them connectors. Add the WordPress connector from Claude’s directory and sign in. It works on sites hosted on WordPress.com and on any self-hosted site that runs the free Jetpack plugin. AI Engine is in Claude’s directory too, and Easy MCP AI and Royal MCP can be added as custom connectors.

Can ChatGPT or Claude connect to the WordPress MCP Adapter?

Not in their web apps yet. The Adapter’s own docs say the ChatGPT and Claude web apps add connectors by signing in with OAuth. WordPress doesn’t include an OAuth server and the Adapter doesn’t add one, so those apps can’t connect to it on their own today. Desktop apps and coding tools like Claude Code and Cursor can connect with an application password. For ChatGPT or Claude on the web, pick a connector that signs in with OAuth, such as Jetpack, AI Engine or Easy MCP AI.

Does Jetpack’s connector work on a self-hosted WordPress site?

Yes. Jetpack’s connector is the WordPress.com MCP server, and a Jetpack site gets the same tools as a site hosted on WordPress.com. It works wherever your site is hosted. Install the free Jetpack plugin, connect it to a free WordPress.com account, then add WordPress in ChatGPT or Claude and sign in. One connection works for every site on your WordPress.com account. The server runs on WordPress.com, the same way Jetpack’s backups and stats do, so there’s no server address to paste or keep running. If you want the server inside your own site, Easy MCP AI, AI Engine, Royal MCP and the WordPress MCP Adapter do that.

Is it safe to connect an AI agent to my site?

With Jetpack, your agent never gets more than your own WordPress permissions, and you choose read only or full access when you connect. You sign in with OAuth in your browser, so your AI app never stores your password. You can switch groups of tools off in Jetpack > Jetpack AI, and single tools in your WordPress.com account. Every change shows in your activity log. Whether your agent asks before each change depends on your AI app’s settings. WordPress.com doesn’t use your site data from these tools to train AI.

Is Jetpack’s MCP connector free?

Using an AI agent on your Jetpack site is free until November 30, 2026. You don’t need a paid Jetpack plan while the offer runs. Some jobs use paid Jetpack products: checking backups needs VaultPress Backup, and scan results need Jetpack Scan. Your ChatGPT or Claude plan is separate, and you keep using the one you have.

Which WordPress MCP connectors can manage WooCommerce?

Easy MCP AI, Royal MCP and miniOrange’s Secure MCP Server handle WooCommerce orders as well as products. WPVibe can bulk-edit products, prices and stock, and AI Engine’s WooCommerce tools are in its Pro version. Jetpack’s connector can read and edit WooCommerce products as content, but it has no tools for orders.

How did you check the facts in this comparison?

We read each product’s own site, docs and WordPress.org listing on November 1, 2026, and every source is listed under the table. We make Jetpack, so we’ve tried to be fair: where another connector does more, the table says so. If something is out of date, tell us and we’ll fix it.
