Preview your posts with Social Preview

Social Preview shows you how your post will appear on social media platforms — including Facebook, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn — and in Google search results, before you publish. It displays the title, description, and image that those platforms will pull from your post.

Social Preview is free for all Jetpack users. Paid Jetpack Social, Jetpack Growth, or Jetpack Complete. also get Enhanced Social Preview, which lets you customize the image and message that are sent when sharing a post.

Social Preview from the Jetpack sidebarMD

You can preview how your post will appear on social media and Google search using the Jetpack sidebar while editing a post.

To access the Social Preview:

1. Open the post editor.
2. Click the Jetpack icon (if you use the Jetpack plugin) or the Social icon (if you use the Jetpack Social plugin) in the top-right corner.
3. In the Link Preview section, click Preview.
4. In the pop-up window, select the social media platform you want to preview using the horizontal tabs.

If SEO tools are enabled, you can also preview your post from the Publish sidebar before publishing.

To preview your post:

1. Click Publish.
2. Scroll to the Optimize SEO section.
3. Click View Previews.
4. In the pop-up window, select the social media platform you want to preview from the horizontal tabs.
5. Review the preview. If everything looks correct, click Publish in the pre-publish sidebar to publish your post.
   If you need to make changes, click Cancel to return to your draft.

Enhanced Social Preview featureMD

With a paid Jetpack Social plan a bundle such as Jetpack Growth or Jetpack Complete, you can access the enhanced Social Preview feature to see how your post will look on each connected social account and make instant edits as needed:

• Add or change the attached image: Customize your social post by adding or replacing the attached image directly in the preview window.
• Add or change a customized message: Write a custom message for your social audience. This message will override your social post content.
• Schedule or share the post: you can choose to schedule the sharing or to share the content immediately.

Jetpack also provides a default fallback image in its Open Graph meta tags when no suitable image is available in the post. This ensures that a valid social preview image is always present, even if the post has no Featured Image or other images to use.

The Social Preview feature ensures your posts look great on social media before sharing them, with the option to customize attached media in paid plans.

Social Preview and Social Image GeneratorMD

Jetpack Social includes two related but distinct features:

• Social Preview shows how your post will look when shared. It reads the Open Graph data from your post — the featured image, title, and excerpt.
• Social Image Generator creates a custom branded image for social sharing, replacing the default featured image.

Only one image source applies at a time: if Social Image Generator is active for a post, the image it generates is what Social Preview displays. If Social Image Generator is not enabled for a post, Social Preview uses the post’s featured image, or the site’s default fallback image if no featured image is set.
