The Performance History feature offers a robust way to track your website’s speed score trends over time to better understand and optimize your site’s performance.
This functionality is only accessible via Jetpack Boost’s paid version or as part of the Jetpack Complete plan.

Installing the Jetpack Boost Plugin
To take full advantage of the Performance History feature, you’ll first need to install and activate the Jetpack Boost plugin. Follow the steps below to get started:
- Start from your site’s WP Admin.
- Navigate to Plugins and click the Add New button from the top of the page.
- Search for Jetpack Boost plugin.
- Find “Jetpack Boost – Website Speed, Performance and Critical CSS” and click Install Now, then Activate button.
Enabling the Performance History feature
When the Jetpack Boost plugin is active, you can enable the Performance History feature by following the steps below, depending on your case.
With the free tier of Jetpack Boost, to enable Performance History, you can follow the steps:
- Start from your site’s WP Admin.
- Navigate to Jetpack → Boost.
- Under the “Overall Score,” you’ll find a new module that is restricted by default. When you click on it, it will expand and you’ll see a prompt to upgrade.
- Click the Upgrade now button and follow the indications.
If you are already on the paid Boost plan or have a Jetpack Complete subscription, the Performance History feature is immediately available to you, without the need for additional setup.
Checking the Performance History Score
Once you installed and activated the Jetpack Boost plugin and upgraded to Jetpack Boost or subscribed to Jetpack Complete, you can check the Performance History Score by following the steps:
- Start from your site’s WP Admin.
- Navigate to Jetpack → Boost.
- Click the Performance History modal to expand and see the scores displayed.
Improving the site speed using the Performance History feature
- Start from your WordPress.com Dashboard.
- From the left up corner click on My Sites and select the site where you enabled Jetpack Boost from the sites available.
- Navigate to Jetpack → Activity Logs.
Review the Activity Logs and look for the entry labeled “Overall score:”, as shown in the accompanying screenshot.

This allows you to monitor speed fluctuations and correlate them with specific site changes, such as enabling plugins or anything else, for informed optimization decisions.
Keeping an eye on the Performance History allows you to maintain optimal website speed, guaranteeing a smooth experience for your audience. This understanding aids in swiftly addressing any performance-related issues, ensuring your website always operates at its best.
