Using Performance History in Jetpack Boost

The Performance History feature offers a robust way to track your website’s speed score trends over time to better understand and optimize your site’s performance.

This functionality is only accessible via Jetpack Boost’s paid version or as part of the Jetpack Complete plan.

Installing the Jetpack Boost PluginMD

To take full advantage of the Performance History feature, you’ll first need to install and activate the Jetpack Boost plugin. Follow the steps below to get started:

1. Start from your site’s WP Admin.
2. Navigate to Plugins and click the Add New button from the top of the page.
3. Search for Jetpack Boost plugin.
4. Find “Jetpack Boost – Website Speed, Performance and Critical CSS” and click Install Now, then Activate button.

Access Performance HistoryMD

Performance History is available with Jetpack Boost Premium and Jetpack Complete.

If you use the free version of Jetpack Boost:

1. Go to Jetpack → Boost in WP Admin.
2. Under Your site speed, find the Performance History panel labeled Learn more about your site performance over time.
3. Expand the panel to preview Performance History.
4. Select the “Upgrade now” link to upgrade and access your site’s Performance History.

If you already have Jetpack Boost Premium or Jetpack Complete, Performance History is available automatically on the Jetpack Boost dashboard.

Check Performance HistoryMD

To review Performance History:

1. Go to Jetpack → Boost in WP Admin.
2. Find the Performance History chart under Your site speed.
3. Review the daily Desktop and Mobile bars to see how your performance scores have changed over time.
4. Hover over a day to view its overall score, Desktop and Mobile scores, and performance metrics such as Largest Contentful Paint, Total Blocking Time, and Cumulative Layout Shift.
5. Use the arrows beside the date range to view earlier or later 30-day periods.

Review performance changes in the Activity LogMD

You can use the Jetpack Activity Log to compare changes on your site with changes in its performance scores.

To review your performance history in the Activity Log:

1. Go to Jetpack → Activity Log in WP Admin.
2. Look for entries labeled Site performance score recorded.
3. Review the Overall, Mobile, and Desktop scores shown with each entry.
4. Compare these entries with other changes in the Activity Log, such as plugin or setting changes, to help identify what may have affected your site’s performance.

The Activity Log can display entries in either a timeline or table view. In both views, look for Site performance score recorded to see the Overall, Mobile, and Desktop scores.
