Jetpack’s latest release comes with new Gutenberg blocks to help you interact with your readers. We’ve also improved the Map Block and Tiled Gallery blocks to give you even more display options to make your site just-so.
Here’s what’s new this month.
The new Google Calendar block replaces the Google Calendar shortcode for better calendar embedding in the block editor.
If you have a site running Gutenberg 7.2 or higher, you can transform existing Google Apps Calendar shortcodes in both classic posts and blocks into Google Calendar block. All sites running Jetpack 8.3 will also be able to add Google Calendar blocks using the embed link or iframe available in the Google Calendar sharing settings.
Just add the block to a post or page, enable permissions, and paste the embed code. Site visitors will see a full-featured, clickable and scrollable Google calendar:
The Tiled Galleries block also got some more customization options; now you can display images with rounded corners and rearrange images within a gallery more easily.
The Maps block has a number of improvements that give you finer-grained control over how maps display. Now you can:
- Set the height of the map
- Turn off the scroll-to-zoom option so maps don’t zoom in when visitors scroll over them
- Enable full-screen view
We’ve also launched the new Revue block, which puts one more tool in your audience-building toolbox. With Jetpack 8.3, you can use the Revue block to let readers sign up for your Revue newsletter.
In addition to everything above, this release includes many other bug fixes and improvements. We made a few improvements to the connection process to ensure that your site’s connection to WordPress.com is as reliable as possible.
