Here’s What Jetpack Is Grateful For This Thanksgiving

As we gear up to celebrate Thanksgiving here in the U.S. this week, we checked in with six members of the Jetpack team to see what they are most grateful for.

After all, practicing gratitude has been proven to improve both physical and mental health.

Here at the Jetpack blog, we are grateful for YOU, our wonderful users. Thank you for being part of this growing community.

Let’s check in with the team. Here’s what six Jetpack team members are grateful for this Thanksgiving.

Name: Jeremy Herve
Role: Jetpack Mechanic
Time at Automattic: 4 years

“I’m grateful for the chance to work for a company that has such a strong impact on online publishing; it gives me the opportunity to interact with many people and help them develop a business, build an online presence, or just express themselves. I am lucky to be able to go to bed every night knowing I made people happy, I made a difference.”

Name: Ashleigh Axios
Role: Design Exponent
Time at Automattic:1 month

“I’m thankful to work in a forward-looking company with a team of people passionate about using all of our tools and capabilities to make the web a more accessible and equitable place. Every individual has a story to tell — regardless of income, gender, political leaning, language, race, or where they live in the world — and it’s rewarding to use technology to bring people together around the diversity of our narratives and experiences.”

Name: Anne McCarthy
Role: Happiness Engineer & Team Lead (internal title is Air Traffic Controller because my team’s name is JPOP Air, hehe)
Time at Automattic: Just over 2 years.

“I’m thankful that I get to work with and learn from a team scattered across the world to make folks who use our products happy all over the world.”

Name: Sam Hotchkiss

Time at Automattic: A little over 2 years

“I’m most thankful for my family– my amazing wife and our son on the way!”

Name: Carolyn Sonnek
Role: Jetpack Pyromancer
Time at Automattic: 3.5 years

“I’m thankful that I work for Automattic, which is not only a great place to work, but has also allowed me the flexibility to take whatever time I need off. This year had been especially difficult for my family, and being able to take time to focus on them has been invaluable. I’m also thankful for my job where I have the opportunity to work with many different people every day helping them with their problems and coming up with solutions. Every day is different!”

Name: Jeff Golenski
Role: Design Tactician
Time at Automattic: Just over 2 years

“I’m thankful for many things. I especially have immense gratitude for being a part of such a loving and inclusive online community. A community that fosters an environment of encouragement to grow and continuously become a better human. The folks I’ve had the opportunity to meet in the 10+ years of involvement in the WordPress ecosystem are some of the most intelligent and inspiring people I know. They don’t know how much they push me to be better, every day. I only hope I can pass that on some day to others.”

Happy Thanksgiving, from the Jetpack family, to yours!

Over to you! Whether you celebrate or not, what are you grateful for this Thanksgiving?
