Display your business’s opening hours on your site with the Business Hours block.
The Business Hours block is available on all Jetpack-connected sites, meaning that it is included in the free Jetpack plugin. The block is a part of the Jetpack Blocks suite and is activated by default. See our Jetpack Blocks article to learn about the available blocks and how to activate them.
Jetpack Blocks require the Block Editor (also referred to as the Gutenberg editor). If you’ve installed the Classic Editor plugin, you have a few options:
- Deactivate the Classic Editor: Go to Plugins → Installed Plugins in your WP Admin and deactivate the Classic Editor plugin.
- Enable both editors: If you prefer flexibility, navigate to Settings → Writing in your WP Admin (not the menu under Jetpack settings). Set Allow users to switch editors to Yes. You will only see these options if you have the Classic Editor plugin installed and active.
Some custom themes or plugins may prevent you from using the Block Editor. In that case, please contact the support team for the plugin or theme for further assistance.
For more details, see Using Blocks and the Classic Editor.
Set up the Business Hours block
You can add the Business Hours block by searching and/or selecting it from the Jetpack section of the block selector. You can recognise the Business Hours block by its green clock icon.
Once added, the block will display the days of the week with the opening and closing times set at the default 09:00 and 17:00, Monday to Friday. To adjust the opening times, click on the value you want to change, then either type in a new value or use the dropdown menu to select the hours and minutes.
To add more hours for any day, click Add Hours and enter your additional hours.
Click the Open/Closed toggle switch to set a day as closed or open. When the toggle is blue, it also says “Open”; when you toggle it off, the button becomes white and says “Close.”
Business Hours block display and settings
You can choose the block’s width alignment by clicking the width icon on the block toolbar within the editor page while the block is selected. The alignment settings will change how the block appears on your site.
After setting up your hours for each day, click outside of the Business Hours block (on any other part of the editor), and you’ll see an approximation of how the block will display on your site.
When you view or preview the page or post where the block is published, the block will have a similar display, but the actual style of the text (font, color, spacing) will be determined by your theme.
Business Hours block layout settings
As every block has specific options in the editor sidebar, you can find these options in the block toolbar. If you do not see the sidebar, click the cog icon (the wheel) next to the Publish button to display the block options.
The layout options you can customize are the following:
- Color: select custom text and background colors for the block.
- Typography: choose the font’s size and line height.
- Dimensions: add custom padding and margin values to change the spacing within and around the block.
- Advanced: add a CSS class to your block, write custom CSS, and style the block as you see fit.
