The Jetpack VideoPress Dashboard

Upload and manage all of your videos in one place.

Pre-requisite: the Jetpack VideoPress dashboard is only available via the standalone Jetpack VideoPress plugin; please ensure that the VideoPress plugin is active before following this guide.

Once the Jetpack VideoPress plugin is activated, you can access your dashboard by going to WP Admin → Jetpack → VideoPress.

You will still be able to see your videos through the WP Admin Media Library. When clicking Edit Video Details in the Media Library, you will be redirected to the Jetpack VideoPress Dashboard.

Manage your storage

At the top of your dashboard, you will always be able to see your storage meter. Save up to 1TB of videos with a paid plan.

You can add videos one at a time from your computer.

You’ll be able to quickly see how many videos you have uploaded while also having the ability to search for a specific video, apply filters and change your current view from grid to list.

Filter and search for videos

From the dashboard, you can:

  • View videos in a list or grid
  • Add filters to search by person who uploaded, privacy settings, and ratings
  • Hover over each video to edit settings such as title, description, poster image (thumbnail), and privacy setting

Manage local videos

In the list view, you can see any videos which have been uploaded to your WP Admin media library, but are not yet hosted by VideoPress. You can upload them to VideoPress from here.

Local videos and VideoPress uploads

Uploading a video file to your site’s Media Library does not automatically convert it to VideoPress or upload it to VideoPress servers.

If the Jetpack VideoPress feature is active, you may see a prompt in the Editor or in the VideoPress dashboard inviting you to convert an existing local Media Library video to VideoPress. This step is completely optional. You can ignore the prompt and continue using your locally hosted video with the standard Video block.

If you choose to convert and upload a local video to VideoPress (see below), the file is transferred to VideoPress and processed there. Once the upload is complete, the video is no longer available as a local Media Library file on your site. From that point on, the video is managed entirely through the VideoPress dashboard, and any embeds or playback will use the VideoPress-hosted version.

If you need to keep a copy of the original file, we recommend saving it locally or in your own backup solution before uploading it to VideoPress.

Add a video to new posts

The Add to New Post option is a quick way to embed a VideoPress video directly into a brand-new post, saving you the extra step of copying embed codes manually.

To use the Add to New Post option, follow these steps:

  1. In your WP Admin, go to Jetpack → VideoPress.
  2. Select the video you’d like to add to a new post.
  3. Click the Edit video details button.
  4. In the video details window, click the three dots () menu near the Save changes button (top right).
  5. Select Add to New Post.

WordPress will automatically create a new post with the selected video embedded. You can then edit and publish the post as needed.
