Display up to ten recent posts from a WordPress.com site or a Jetpack-connected WordPress site with the Display WordPress Posts widget.
Requirements
The Display WordPress Posts widget is available in Classic Themes only. If your site uses a Block Theme, the Appearance → Widgets screen is not available. Use the RSS block instead to display posts from another site — see the RSS block documentation for instructions.
The site whose posts you want to display must be connected to Jetpack. A site that is not connected to Jetpack cannot serve posts to this widget.
Add the Display WordPress Posts widget
- Activate the Extra Sidebar Widgets feature to use this widget.
- In your WP Admin, navigate to Appearance → Customize → Widgets.
- Click on the widget area where you wish to display posts from a different WordPress site.
- Click the + button to search for available widgets.
- Search for “display”, and the Display WordPress Posts Widget should appear.
Customize the widget appearance
The widget displays the title of each post from the linked WordPress blog. Each title will link to the full post on the other site.
You can customize the widget by using different options:
- Title: this is the title of the widget. It will appear at the top of the list of posts from the other site. If you leave this field blank, the widget will display only the title of the other WordPress site.
- Blog URL: enter the blog address without
https://at the beginning. It will be stripped out if you include it. - Number of Posts to Display: choose how many posts to display. You can display up to ten posts.
- Show Featured Image: check this box to display the Featured Image if the post has one assigned.
- Show Excerpts: check this box to display an excerpt for each post.
Block Themes: Use the RSS Block Instead
The Display WordPress Posts widget is not available in Block Themes because Block Themes do not use the classic widget system.
To show posts from another WordPress site in a Block Theme, use the RSS block:
- Open the page or template where you want to display posts.
- Add a new block and search for “RSS.”
- Select the RSS block.
- Enter the RSS feed URL of the source site. For most WordPress sites, the feed URL is the site address followed by
/feed/(for example,yourjetpack.blog/feed/). - Click Apply.
