Jetpack AI Assistant Features

AI Assistant Block

Jetpack AI brings AI-powered text generation into your WordPress block editor. The Jetpack AI Assistant Block allows you to draft, transform, translate, and alter your content, leveraging the capabilities of AI. It works both with new and existing content. You can find detailed documentation in Jetpack AI Assistant Block.

Requirements

Editor requirements

Jetpack AI’s features require Jetpack Blocks to be activated on your site. See our Jetpack Blocks article to learn about the available blocks and how to activate them.

Jetpack Blocks require the Block Editor (also referred to as the Gutenberg editor). If you’ve installed the Classic Editor plugin, you have a few options:

  • Deactivate the Classic Editor: Go to PluginsInstalled Plugins in your WP Admin and deactivate the Classic Editor plugin.
  • Enable both editors: If you prefer flexibility, navigate to Settings → Writing in your WP Admin (not the menu under Jetpack settings). Set Allow users to switch editors to Yes. You will only see these options if you have the Classic Editor plugin installed and active.

Some custom themes or plugins may prevent you from using the Block Editor. In that case, please contact the support team for the plugin or theme for further assistance.

For more details, see Using Blocks and the Classic Editor.

Connection requirements

Jetpack AI is accessible only when Jetpack is properly connected to WordPress.com on your site. AI enhancements will be unavailable if Jetpack is not connected or if the connection is broken. For guidance about resolving Jetpack connection issues, please refer to this guide.

If your site has multiple users, each user who wants to use the Jetpack AI tools must connect their WordPress.com account.

Usage limitations and upgrades

Jetpack AI welcomes you with 20 free requests to get started. This is a per-site free limit that does not renew. Once you exceed the free limit, you will be prompted to upgrade to either the standalone Jetpack AI plan or as part of the Jetpack Complete bundle.

Requests are counted as actions executed with the tools provided by Jetpack AI, including (but not limited to) actions on in AI Assistant block, the actions on the Form AI Assistant, excerpt generation, image generation, and the feedback tool. Each action “costs” one request.

The exception is Write Brief with AI – currently, using this tool does not count towards your total request usage.

Jetpack AI logo generation requires the paid Jetpack AI plan or the Jetpack Complete bundle.

Upgrading to Jetpack AI plan

You can upgrade directly from the Usage panel. Alternatively, visit Jetpack -> My Jetpack in your WP Admin and look for the AI section.

You can also opt for the Jetpack Complete bundle.

Jetpack AI usage limit

The Jetpack AI plan and the Jetpack Complete bundle include a request limit that will meet the needs of the vast majority of users, and should be more than sufficient to enable you to build and manage your website. In rare circumstances, we may constrain accounts using more resources than should be the case in the normal operation of a typical website.

While we believe the limit will meet the needs of nearly all users, we are committed to ensuring you have the tools you need to succeed and will continue to monitor and evolve our services to best support you. Should there be any changes to this limit in the future, we will communicate them clearly and in advance.

Monitoring your usage of your 20 free requests to Jetpack AI

You can monitor your current free usage from the Usage panel. To view your Jetpack AI usage:

  1. Navigate to Jetpack → My Jetpack.
  2. Make sure you are on the Overview tab.
  3. Find the AI section and click View.
  4. You will see your all-time request count in the All-time requests used section.

The usage counter is updated in real time.

How to disable Jetpack AI Assistant

You can disable the AI Assistant Block in your Editor preferences. Here is how:

  1. Click the Options icon (three vertical dots) in the top bar of the Post editor for any post.
  2. Click Preferences.
  3. Go to the Blocks tab.
  4. Under Manage block visibility, scroll down to Text
  5. Deselect AI Assistant
  6. Refresh the page.

Disabling the AI Assistant Block will also disable AI-powered post excerpts.

You can also disable access to all features of Jetpack AI. This needs to be done via the jetpack_ai_enabled filter (refer to Add PHP Code Without Editing Files):

add_filter( 'jetpack_ai_enabled', '__return_false' );

Please be aware that code snippets are provided as a courtesy and our support team is unable to offer assistance customizing them further.

Privacy Information

Jetpack AI Assistant is activated by default. You can deactivate it by turning off Jetpack Blocks.

Data Used
Site Owners / Users

This feature requires the usage of the following information and data: WordPress.com-connected site ID, post ID, and the full prompt received from the block, which includes what the user typed in the block and also the current content from the post, including the title.

When a user sends a request or clicks one of the options in the toolbar (Summarize, Simplify, Post about…, and so on), the option is tracked, along with its type (suggestion or prompt template).
Site Visitors

No visitor data is used or tracked by this feature, as it is only available in the block editor. The AI Assistant block is not rendered on the site’s frontend by itself.

Only the content generated is shown using paragraphs, lists, and tables, which don’t track any data.
Activity Tracked
Site Owners / Users

We track when and by which user the feature is used. We also track when and which configuration settings are modified (and by which user).

On our end, we keep track of every prompt execution (any action that the user performs on the block). This tracking includes the WordPress.com-connected site type, the WordPress.com-connected site ID, the post ID, and the full prompt received from the block.
Site Visitors

No activity is tracked for site visitors as the feature is only operative in the block editor and not on the frontend of the site.
