AI Editorial reviews in your post editor

Use the AI Editorial Review feature to get a structured second opinion on a draft post before you publish.

AI Editorial Review is part of the Jetpack AI Sidebar Preview. It reads a draft post and returns a structured review you can act on without leaving the editor.

AI Editorial review requirements

AI Editorial Review is available when:

  • You are logged in to WordPress with edit access to the post.
  • The content is a post. Pages and custom post types are not supported in this release.
  • The post is a draft. Published posts are not reviewed.
  • Your Jetpack connection is healthy, and you’re on the latest plugin version.
  • Your AI features are enabled on WP Admin → Jetpack → AI.

If any of these conditions are not met, AI Editorial Review does not appear in the sidebar.

Where to find AI Editorial Review

  1. Open an eligible draft post in the Block Editor.
  2. A little diamond-shape icon should appear on the right bottom end of the page.
  3. Clicking the icon will open a dialogue chat with the AI Editorial feature.

The review does not open a modal, or send an email.

What the review includes

A completed review is divided into the following sections:

  • Summary: a high-level take on the draft.
  • Reviewer conflicts: places where the draft contradicts unresolved conflicts.
  • Cascade implications: knock-on effects elsewhere in the post that follow from the changes you are making.
  • Suggested edits: concrete changes you can apply.

The review is advisory. Nothing is changed in the post until you apply a suggestion yourself.

What the review reads

To produce a review, AI Editorial Review reads the following:

  • The post content.
  • Any unresolved content present in the post.
  • The site Guidelines configured for your site, when present. If no Guidelines are configured, the Guideline violations section is omitted. Note that this is mainly a WordPress.com sites feature at the moment.

It does not read other posts, comments, media library files, or content outside the current draft.

Block-level suggestions in the AI Sidebar

The Jetpack AI Sidebar Preview also exposes block-level AI suggestions on selected text blocks. With text selected, the sidebar offers:

  • Translate: translates the selection.
  • Change tone: rewrites the selection in a different tone.
  • Check grammar: flags and correct grammar issues.
  • Simplify: rewrites the selection in simpler language.

These suggestions act on the selected block only. They are independent of AI Editorial Review.

Privacy information

Jetpack AI Editorial Review is activated by default. You can deactivate it by turning off Jetpack Blocks.

Data Used
Site Owners / Users

This feature requires the usage of the following information and data: WordPress.com-connected site ID, post ID, and the full prompt received from the block, which includes what the user typed in the block and also the current content from the post, including the title.

When a user sends a request or clicks one of the options in the toolbar (Summarize, Simplify, Post about…, and so on), the option is tracked, along with its type (suggestion or prompt template).
Site Visitors

No visitor data is used or tracked by this feature, as it is only available in the block editor. The AI Assistant block is not rendered on the site’s frontend by itself.

Only the content generated is shown using paragraphs, lists, and tables, which don’t track any data.
Activity Tracked
Site Owners / Users

We track when and by which user the feature is used. We also track when and which configuration settings are modified (and by which user).

On our end, we keep track of every prompt execution (any action that the user performs on the block). This tracking includes the WordPress.com-connected site type, the WordPress.com-connected site ID, the post ID, and the full prompt received from the block.
Site Visitors

No activity is tracked for site visitors as the feature is only operative in the block editor and not on the frontend of the site.
