Jetpack AI Assistant Features

The AI Assistant Block allows you to draft, transform, translate, and alter your content, leveraging the capabilities of AI. It works both with new and existing content. You can find detailed documentation in Jetpack AI Assistant Block.
Write Brief with AI

Requirements
Editor requirements
In order to benefit from AI assistance, you will need to activate Jetpack Blocks. See our Jetpack Blocks article to learn about the available blocks and how to activate them.
Jetpack Blocks require the Block Editor (also referred to as the Gutenberg editor). If you’ve installed the Classic Editor plugin, you will need to switch back to the Block Editor either by:
- Deactivating the Classic Editor: Go to Plugins → Installed Plugins in your WP Admin and deactivate the Classic Editor plugin.
- Enabling both editors: If you prefer flexibility, navigate to Settings → Writing in your WP Admin. Set Allow users to switch editors to Yes.
See Using Blocks and the Classic Editor for more details.
It may happen that an editor that comes with a custom theme or plugin prevents you from using the Block Editor. In that case, please contact the respective plugin or theme author for further assistance.
Connection requirements
Jetpack AI Assistant is accessible only when Jetpack is properly connected to your site. AI enhancements will be unavailable if Jetpack is not connected or if the connection is broken. For assistance with Jetpack connection issues, please refer to this guide.
Usage limitations and upgrades
Jetpack AI Assistant welcomes you with 20 free requests to get started. This is a per-site free limit that does not renew. Once you exceed the free limit, you will be prompted to upgrade to the paid Jetpack AI Assistant plan.
Actions executed with the tools provided by Jetpack AI Assistant are counted as requests – the actions on the AI Assistant block, the actions on the Form AI Assistant, the excerpt generation, the image generation, and the feedback tool. Each action “costs” one request, with the exception of logo generation, which “costs” 10 requests.
The exception is Write Brief with AI – currently, using this tool does not count towards your total request usage.
Jetpack AI logo generation requires the paid Jetpack AI plan. The initial logo generation “costs” 11 credits: one request to generate the prompt for the logo plus 10 requests for the actual image generation. Subsequent logo generations cost 10 credits.
Upgrading to Jetpack AI paid plan
You can upgrade directly from the Usage panel.
Alternatively, visit Jetpack -> My Jetpack in your WP Admin and look for the AI section.
Jetpack AI usage limit
The AI Assistant’s paid plan includes a request limit that will meet the needs of the vast majority of users, and should be more than sufficient to enable you to build and manage your website. In rare circumstances, we may constrain accounts using more resources than should be the case in the normal operation of a typical website.
While we believe the limit will meet the needs of nearly all users, we are committed to ensuring you have the tools you need to succeed and will continue to monitor and evolve our services to best support you. Should there be any changes to this limit in the future, we will communicate them clearly and in advance.
Monitoring free AI usage
You can monitor your current free usage from the Usage panel. To access the AI Assistant Usage panel:
- Open your post in the edit mode.
- In the top-right corner of the post-writing screen, click the Jetpack icon. This will open the Jetpack plugin sidebar.
- Find and expand the AI Assistant section.
- In the Usage section, you will find the current request count and an upgrade button.
The usage counter is updated in real time. It shows how many requests you have made.
The usage counter will no longer display once you upgrade to the paid plan.
How to disable Jetpack AI Assistant
You can disable the AI Assistant Block in your Editors preferences. Here is how:
- Click the Options icon (vertical dots) in the top bar of the post editor.
- Click Preferences.
- Go to the Blocks tab.
- Toggle off AI Assistant.
- Refresh the page.
Disabling the AI Assistant Block will also disable AI-powered post excerpts.
You can also disable access to all features of Jetpack AI Assistant. This needs to be done via the jetpack_ai_enabled filter (refer to Add PHP Code Without Editing Files):
add_filter( 'jetpack_ai_enabled', '__return_false' );

| Data Used | |
| Site Owners / Users This feature requires the usage of the following information and data: WordPress.com-connected site ID, post ID, and the full prompt received from the block, which includes what the user typed in the block and also the current content from the post, including the title. When a user sends a request or clicks one of the options in the toolbar (Summarize, Simplify, Post about…, and so on), the option is tracked, along with its type (suggestion or prompt template). | Site Visitors No visitor data is used or tracked by this feature, as it is only available in the block editor. The AI Assistant block is not rendered on the site’s frontend by itself. Only the content generated is shown using paragraphs, lists, and tables, which don’t track any data. |
| Activity Tracked | |
| Site Owners / Users We track when and by which user the feature is used. We also track when and which configuration settings are modified (and by which user). On our end, we keep track of every prompt execution (any action that the user performs on the block). This tracking includes the WordPress.com-connected site type, the WordPress.com-connected site ID, the post ID, and the full prompt received from the block. | Site Visitors No activity is tracked for site visitors as the feature is only operative in the block editor and not on the frontend of the site. |
