WooCommerce is a powerful e-commerce plugin built for WordPress. Several WooCommerce extensions work hand-in-hand with WordPress.com, and in some cases, the Jetpack plugin facilitates the connection between the two. In this documentation, we explore those extensions.
WooCommerce Products Requiring a Connection to WordPress.com via the Jetpack Plugin
WooCommerce Shipping & Tax
This extension was previously referred to as WooCommerce Services. You may also sometimes see separate references to WooCommerce Shipping or WooCommerce Tax. These two features are combined within the single WooCommerce Shipping & Tax plugin.
WooCommerce Shipping & Tax requires the Jetpack plugin to be activated and connected to your WordPress.com account. If you don’t connect your site to WordPress.com via Jetpack, automated taxes may not be applied correctly, and you will not be able to print shipping labels.
WooCommerce Mobile App
The WooCommerce Mobile App helps you manage your online store via a mobile app.
The app needs to create a connection to your online store. That secure connection is provided via the Jetpack plugin, which should be installed, activated, and connected with your WordPress.com account. You can find more details in the Jetpack Setup Instructions for the WooCommerce Mobile App.
WooCommerce Products Not Requiring a Connection to WordPress.com through the Jetpack Plugin
WooCommerce Payments and Google Listings and Ads both require a connection to your WordPress.com account. This connection can be created with or without Jetpack. If you have Jetpack activated and connected to your WordPress.com account, the Jetpack connection will automatically be used for these extensions.
WooCommerce Payments
WooCommerce Payments is a fully integrated payment gateway developed by WooCommerce.
If you disconnect Jetpack while using WooCommerce Payments, WooCommerce Payments will stop working. You will see a warning that WooCommerce Payments will no longer work before confirming the disconnection. To restore functionality of WooCommerce Payments, you have two options:
- Reconnect Jetpack, or;
- Connect only your WordPress.com account to WooCommerce Payments instead of Jetpack.
Google Listings & Ads
Google Listings & Ads syncs your store products with Google listings, making it simple to showcase them to shoppers across Google.
If you disconnect Jetpack while using Google Listings & Ads, Google Listings & Ads will stop working. You will see a warning that Google Listings & Ads will no longer work before confirming the disconnection. To restore functionality of Google Listings & Ads, you have two options:
- Reconnect Jetpack, or;
- Connect only your WordPress.com account to Google Listings & Ads instead of Jetpack.
