How to use Jetpack SocialMD

You can activate Jetpack Social from within Jetpack or install it as a standalone plugin. Once it’s active, you can connect social accounts and start automatically sharing your new posts to Facebook, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Mastodon, Nextdoor, and Bluesky.

Turn auto-sharing on or offMD

Site admins can turn automatic sharing (auto-share) on or off directly from the Social dashboard. Go to Jetpack → Social and open the Settings tab. At the top, use the “Automatically share your posts to your connected social accounts” toggle.

When the toggle is off, the Social tools stay available in the dashboard, but your posts are not shared automatically to your connected social accounts. When the toggle is on, new posts are shared automatically according to your connection and message settings.

This toggle is available only to administrators (users with the manage_options capability) on self-hosted (Jetpack) sites and WordPress.com Atomic sites. It does not appear on WordPress.com Simple sites, where auto-sharing is always on and cannot be turned off.

If auto-sharing is already off, the Social dashboard collapses to a single screen with the heading “Auto-sharing is turned off”. Click Turn on Social to re-enable it in place — you do not need to open Jetpack Settings.

All plans include support for up to 15 connected social media accounts per user, and up to 30 per site. Jetpack Social features are available to Admins, Editors, and Authors. Contributors cannot use the auto-share feature.
